Sync Uses Your Own iCloud

If you are signed in to iCloud, your data syncs through your private iCloud account. We never receive it.

1. Introduction

Bible First ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the Bible First iOS application ("the App"), how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Bible First does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. The App functions entirely offline and does not communicate with Bible First's servers during normal use.

Specifically, we do not collect:

  • Your name, email address, or any account credentials
  • Device identifiers or advertising IDs (IDFA)
  • Usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry
  • Location data
  • Contacts or photos
  • Browsing history or app usage patterns
  • Any data from your prayer journal or favorites list

If you write to us. The App never asks for your email address. If you choose to email us — from the support page, or with Send Feedback in the App's Settings — the message is sent from your own email account, so we receive your email address and whatever you write. Feedback sent from the App also includes the App's version, your iOS version and your device model, which you can see and remove before sending. We use this only to reply to you and to fix or improve the App, and we do not share it.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following data on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you are signed in to iCloud, it is also synchronised through your own private iCloud account (see section 4):

Favorites

When you save a study to your favorites, the study name and category are stored. The App also stores any verses you highlight, the notes and answers you write, and your reading progress, including which studies you have opened and which days you have read.

Prayer Journal

Prayer requests you add — including the name you pray for, the prayer text, and any tags you assign — are stored on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, in your private iCloud account. This is personal and sensitive information. Bible First never accesses, reads, or transmits your prayer data to us or to anyone else.

App Settings and Preferences

Any display preferences or settings you configure within the App are stored locally on your device.

This data remains under your control. Uninstalling the App removes it from that device; if iCloud sync is enabled, a copy remains in your iCloud account until you delete it there (see section 8).

4. iCloud Sync

If your device is signed in to iCloud, Bible First keeps your favorites, notes, highlights, prayers and reading progress in step across your devices using Apple's CloudKit.

  • Your data is stored in your own private iCloud database, under your Apple Account. It is not stored on any server belonging to Bible First, and the developer cannot read it.
  • Sync is handled entirely by Apple. Its use of your data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • If you are not signed in to iCloud, or you turn iCloud off for Bible First in Settings → [your name] → iCloud, the App works normally and keeps everything on your device only.

The App requests no microphone, camera, location or contacts permissions, and makes no network requests of its own.

Notifications. If you turn on the daily reading reminder or the prayer reminder in Settings, the App asks your permission to send notifications. Reminders are scheduled on your device by iOS; nothing is sent to us, and a reminder never includes the name or text of a prayer. Both reminders are off unless you turn them on.

5. Third-Party Services

Bible First uses the following third-party services:

Apple iCloud (CloudKit)

Used only to synchronise your own data between your own devices, as described in section 4. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Google Fonts (Website Only)

This website (not the app) loads fonts from Google Fonts. Google may log your IP address and browser information as part of this request, subject to Google's Privacy Policy. No fonts are loaded over the network within the App itself.

Bible First does not integrate any advertising networks, analytics platforms, social media SDKs, or other data-collecting third-party services.

6. Children's Privacy

Bible First does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Because the App does not collect any personal information from any user, it is inherently safe for users of all ages. Parents and guardians may permit children to use the App freely.

If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information to us, please contact us at levihopper+biblefirst@gmail.com and we will address it promptly.

7. Data Security

Because your data is stored on your device and in your own iCloud account, its security depends primarily on the security of your device and your Apple Account. We recommend:

  • Using a strong passcode or Face ID/Touch ID on your iPhone
  • Keeping your iOS software up to date
  • Enabling iCloud backup if you wish to preserve your App data during device transfers

Bible First does not transmit your data over any network, so there is no risk of data interception during normal App use.

8. Your Rights and Data Deletion

Bible First does not collect or store your data on any server of ours, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf. Your data lives on your device and, if iCloud sync is enabled, in your own iCloud account — in both cases fully under your control.

To delete your App data:

  • Delete individual prayers: Press and hold a prayer in the Prayer tab, then choose Delete.
  • Remove a favorite: Tap the heart icon on any saved topic to unsave it.
  • Delete all App data: Uninstall Bible First to remove it from that device. If iCloud sync is enabled, a copy remains in your iCloud account until you remove it in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

We will not change this policy in a way that weakens your privacy protections without providing prominent notice.
